Building Your Own Outdoor Cushion
This video class will walk you through all the steps involved in building your own outdoor cushion. First, we cover which foams are best for an outdoor cushion. CushionRite® Dry Fast Antimicrobial Foam is a great foam for an outside cushion. The water will drain right through it, making it ideal for cockpit cushions and exposed patio furniture. It’s also mold and mildew resistant — another reason to choose Dry Fast for outdoor cushion applications.
Choosing the Right Fabric
Next comes choosing the fabric for your cushion. It’s a good idea to use a vinyl mesh material like Phifertex® on the bottom of the cushion so the water can drain through. You can use any fabric on the top and sides of the cushion; the water will be drained out the bottom of the cushion as long as you use Phifertex mesh vinyl on the bottom.
Assembly and Sewing
Once you have your foam and fabric pieces cut, the final steps are assembly and sewing. This video class will show you how to add a zipper plaque and piping to your cushion as well. Adding a zipper and piping makes for a great-looking cushion that people will think came from a store.
