Canvas Upholstery Fabric
We’re making our throw cover pillow out of Sunbrella® Canvas Upholstery Fabric and adding decorative fringe. We chose Sunbrella for not only its softness and beauty but also for its longevity. Sunbrella fabric is made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic, guaranteeing years of fade and stain resistance and the quality you’ve come to expect from Sunbrella.
To calculate how much fringe you’ll need, follow these steps. Take your pillow form’s dimensions and add up each side. Our pillow form is 20" x 20", for a total of 80" on all four sides. Then add about 6" just for safety. So we’ll need 86" of fringe for our pillow.
For a great-looking, plump pillow, cut your fabric panels the same dimensions as your pillow form. With a 1/2" seam allowance all around, our pillow cover will end up at 19" x 19". Trust us — the slightly larger pillow form will still fit inside the pillow cover and it will look fantastic!
Watch our video to learn how to cut your panels, sew the decorative fringe to your top panel and more! We’ll show you a trick for turning corners easily when sewing the fringe so your project will turn out great.
