Installing Carpet Style Hull Liner in a Quarter Berth

This part of your boat is a very tight fit, and it can be hard to work and move around in such a cramped space. But don't be discouraged. We'll show you how to get it done!

For our quarter berth, we're using HullBlanket material to line the walls and ceiling. HullBlanket is a carpet style headliner fabric that's a great choice for boat headliner or hull liner material. It's durable, stain resistant, and mold/mildew resistant. It's also antistatic and moistureproof. It's made from 100% polypropylene and has a soft, knobby woven look similar to outdoor carpet. HullBlanket is extremely easy to work with and cuts with a razor or scissors — and there's no fabric fraying! It's great to use on uneven surfaces because the material stretches during installation so you can slightly stretch and pull it to fit your space during installation. The knobby texture also masks any bumps or dents in your hull's surface, making HullBlanket more forgiving than a vinyl fabric.

To prepare your hull for the fabric installation, first you need to sand the walls and ceiling to remove any leftover adhesive. We suggest using a sander with a vacuum attached so the paint and adhesive you're sanding away is immediately sucked away into the vacuum without getting all over you and requiring cleanup later. It's also very important to wear proper safety attire including a breathing mask and eye protection.
