A female socket with a pin head is snapped on the installed snap fastener stud. The fabric is then pulled into position and the pin is poked through the fabric and a plastic holding cap is placed over the pin. The cap can be removed and the fabric can be re-positioned over the pin many times without damage to the fabric.
