Order your custom sail
The first step is to order your custom sail. Head over to our Sailmaking page to learn more about our custom sail kits and request a quote for your very own DIY Sail Kit. When you select a sail kit, our sail designer Jeff Frank aids in every step of the process before it arrives at your door. Not only is Jeff an avid sailor, but he has been designing sails for over 27 years and has been our lead sail designer since 1991. Each sail kit is custom-designed for maximum performance. Jeff oversees every part of your sail kit creation so that there’s no guesswork involved on your end.
Be sure to watch our video for an in-depth look at this meticulous and innovative process. In the video, Eric is sewing a 153% Genoa sail.
Sailrite sail kits are specially designed to be easy to assemble and easy to sew. When your sail kit arrives, all the panels will be precut and numbered, along with detailed written instructions. Both seaming and hemming lines are plotted on each panel, and we include double-sided basting tape to hold panels together while you’re working. All the fabric and hardware necessary will be included in your kit as well, so you can get started and get back out on the water in no time! The only other items you will need to complete this project are common household tools, a high-quality sewing machine and perhaps a grommet setter.
When you want the best for your boat, Sailrite is there every step of the way. We offer everything you need to make your own sails, boat awnings, sail bags, biminis, dodgers, flags and sail covers like a professional. If you’re interested in a particular sail kit, feel free to contact our sail designer, Jeff Frank, via email at jefff@sailrite.com to discuss your options. If you have any other questions or concerns, we have top-notch customer support staff ready to assist you.
