This is a great beginner project if you’re new to sewing. This design is simple, and the kit includes all the materials needed to make a boat hatch wind scoop. The only things you need to supply are a sewing machine and basic sewing tools and supplies. Plus, the detailed video tutorial walks you through every step of the process.
The kit comes with SureRite® fabric. SureRite is an all-weather, solution-dyed polyester fabric with a coating on one side for added water resistance. With high abrasion resistance and good breathability, it’s an excellent choice for a marine cover fabric.
SuperShok™ Bungee Cord is used to adjust the arch of your canopy, letting in more air or keeping out rain and moisture. SuperShok is the premium bungee cord offering on the market. Its high UV resistance and incredible strength — thanks to its solid rubber core and UV-treated polyester covering — make it the best outdoor bungee cord in the world.
This project is part of our Seaward 32RK Project Series. We’re overhauling a Seaward sailboat from bow to stern. In addition to exterior projects like a new dodger, cockpit cushions and winch covers, we also revamped the cabin and sleeping berth with new cushions and pillows. Whether you’re redoing your entire boat or just updating a project or two, you don’t want to miss this exciting video series.
