No-Sew Vinyl Barstool Cushion DIY
X-HT-300601
Why should you take the time to put a cushion on a perfectly good wooden barstool? Well, let's be real — unpadded wooden barstools aren't the most comfortable furniture in the world. So, adding a cushion will do more than just match your décor. It'll provide another cushy seating option when you're hosting family and friends, or even when it's just you at home. And who doesn't like to have lots of comfy furniture pieces to choose from?
In this how-to video, we'll walk you through upholstering a plain wooden barstool. You'll learn how to measure and cut foam, batting and fabric to fit the stool's seat. We'll also show you how to install the fabric assembly onto the stool without sewing. We chose vinyl material for our seat cushion — and we can't wait to share our trick for using a common household item to reduce wrinkles in a finished vinyl upholstery piece.
This project only requires a few tools and materials, including a Sailrite® Upholstery Staple Gun and 1/4-inch staples, vinyl upholstery fabric (we used EverSoft™ Indoor/Outdoor Vinyl Fabric), high-density CushionRite® Premium foam and polyester batting. This is a quick DIY for one or more wooden stools. When you're ready to learn how to upholster a stool, watch our how-to video.
