Brass rings can be used with eyelets (sold separately) at the corners of sails and anywhere a purchase on fabric is required. The rings are first sewn to the fabric with sail twine (this makes them much stronger than any "pressed" grommet like the brass spur grommet). Then the eyelet is inserted into the sewn ring and pressed inside to protect the thread from chafe. Use the same numbered ring and eyelet: a #9 ring and a #9 eyelet.
These high-quality brass rings are cast. They can also be simply sewn to a piece of fabric with sail twine or placed in a loop of webbing which is then sewn to the fabric to serve as a tie-down point.
