Made in the USA!
CushionRite® Dry Fast is an open cell, reticulated foam with antimicrobial properties. The open pores in the foam allow water and air to pass through, making Dry Fast a great choice for marine and outdoor applications. This is not a high-density foam; therefore, it should be selected for occasional-use applications and not as berth foam for liveaboard boaters, unless breathability and superior drainage capabilities outweigh the longevity of the foam.
Dry Fast’s superior airflow and heat dissipation, as well as its excellent water drainage capabilities, make it well suited for patio cushions and seating and cabin seating and mattresses. This foam has a soft stiffness, a density of 1.8 pounds per cubic foot and a foam IFD (Indentation Force Deflection) of 33 pounds. Foam firmness/stiffness is a personal preference. If you prefer a firmer foam, choose Dry Fast (Medium) or Dry Fast (Firm). You can also layer Dry Fast with other seating foams to achieve the feel and level of support you need. The firmer foam should be the bottom layer if layering foams with different stiffness levels.
Sailrite recommends covering Dry Fast foam with a high-performance, breathable fabric like Sunbrella® for the top and sides and Phifertex® mesh or Cushion Underlining for the bottom to allow moisture to escape. If you want to flip your cushions, use Sunbrella or another performance fabric for the entire cover. CushionRite Dry Fast is a virtually maintenance-free foam in sun, rain and even snow. Outdoor cushions will not retain water and indoor bedding feels much cooler. Professionals also suggest laminating a thin sheet of closed cell foam to the bottom of Dry Fast for the ultimate in cushion comfort and performance. Prior to lamination, poke holes with a small grommet hole cutter in the closed cell foam so the foam will drain.
CushionRite is certified by CertiPUR-US® to be free from:
- Ozone depleters
- Certain chemical flame retardants
- Mercury, lead and other heavy metals
- Formaldehyde
- Certain phthalates
- High levels of volatile organic compounds
The Sailrite® Blade Foam Saw expertly cuts through a full range of seating foam types. A standard electric kitchen knife can also be used, though the results won’t look as professional. To glue two pieces of foam together, Sailrite recommends using spray adhesive. Foam can also be glued on the sides to make a wider piece or layered to make thicker cushions.
Please Note: Sheet size can vary up to 2 inches in length and 1 inch in width.
Important: Items are compressed for shipping; we recommend unrolling as soon as possible. Compressed foam takes up to a week to regain its original size and shape. Allow foam to fully decompress before cutting or using in a project.
Features:
- Open cell—air and water pass through; dries out quickly.
