Swap out your old and dingy patio cushions, sofa cushions, camper or boat cabin cushions with this popular box cushion featuring optional piping and a seamless front-edge boxing strip. Grab your sewing machine and let's get started!
Our DIY box cushion is a bit more complex than other cushions in this series. But our step-by-step video tutorial walks you through the entire construction process. We don't leave anything out; so even beginner sewers will be able to follow along and make a great-looking cushion.
This box cushion with continuous boxing consists of the following pieces: a top and bottom plate, a continuous boxing strip, and a zipper plaque strip. This style of cushion can be square, rectangular or irregularly shaped, so it's a great choice if you have an oddly shaped space that needs a cushion. Here are some other features of this box cushion design:
- The boxing strip wraps around the front of the cushion for a seamless, clean look.
- A zipper is installed in the back boxing.
- Piping can be added to the top and/or bottom edges, or not at all.
- The cushion is reversible if decorative fabric is used for both the top and bottom plates.
