Use your HandyPress® to set double-cap rivets in a variety of projects. This eight-piece set includes four upper dies (labeled “U”) and four lower dies (labeled “L”), allowing you to install double-cap rivets of at least four different cap sizes. There is one upper die and one lower die per cap size. Each matching set is conveniently labeled by size for easy selection (except the 13mm, which looks slightly different than the other dies).

Install the following double-cap rivet cap sizes with this die set (Post Length x Cap Size):

• 6mm (Extra Small) x 6mm — Use 7mm die following video instructions.
• 7mm (Small) x 7mm
• 9mm (Medium) x 9mm
• 12mm (Large) x 9mm
• 15mm (Extra Large) x 9mm
• Post Length x 10mm — Some 10mm and 11mm Cap Rivets in the market would use the 10mm die set.
• 7mm (Thick / Small) x 13mm (Wide)
• 10mm (Thick / Medium) x 13mm (Wide)
• 12mm (Thick / Large) x 13mm (Wide)

For 6mm, 7mm, 8mm and 9mm cap sizes, punch a 1/8" (3mm) hole. For 13mm cap size, punch a 5/32" (4mm) hole.

Size designations (Small, Large, etc.) reference the length of the male post. “Thick” references a post that is a larger diameter and, thus, stronger. “Wide” refers to what the industry calls a Wide Double Cap Rivet. It is simply a fastener with 13mm cap ends.

Have rivets with different barrel lengths? Don’t worry — these dies can install them all as long as the cap sizes are compatible with one of the die sets. Three of the lower dies are spring-loaded to hold the rivet post side during installation. But watch our demo video for a better way to install these rivets without the use of the captive sleeve. The upper dies feature a gasket that holds the separate cap in place for worry-free installation (but, once again, with our alternate installation approach this gasket is not required).

To Use: 

1. Install your chosen upper die into the main vertical shaft's inner diameter and secure with the thumbscrew.
2. Place the HandyPress 3/8" lower adapter into the tool base, then install the lower die that matches the size of the upper die. Secure it with the thumbscrew. 
3. Set the tool for appropriate compression as directed in the HandyPress guidebook.
4. Place a rivet through a precut hole in your material assembly, then place the post rivet cap on the lower die with the post facing up.
5. Place the female cap into the upper die. Press it securely into the gasket.
6. Holding your assembly in place down firmly so that the post is exposed through the precut hole, pull the handle down to press the cap onto the rivet post.
7. Or, ignore the above steps 1 through 6 and follow the approach shown in our demo video.

Please Note: These die sets do not cut holes in the leather/fabric assembly; holes must be cut before rivets can be installed. Hole punches are sold separately.
