It's never been easier to install decorative spots in your leather projects. This two-piece HandyPress® die set, commonly known as West Coast dies, installs 1/2" round spots in your projects in one step — no prepunched holes needed. During installation, the spring-loaded upper die holds the spot in position. The spring compresses to release the spot, when operating the press, to allow the prongs of the spot to pass through the leather. The lower die curls the prongs upward and into the leather for a secure hold.

Each die is labeled "U" for upper and "L" for lower, making installation easy and straightforward.

To Use:

1. Install the spring-loaded die into the main vertical shaft's inner diameter and secure with the thumbscrew.
2. Place the HandyPress 3/8" lower adapter into the tool base, then slide the lower die into the adapter and secure it with the thumbscrew.
3. Set the tool for appropriate compression as directed in the HandyPress guidebook or video.
4. Place a round spot into the upper die with the prongs pointing down toward the tool base.
5. Place your leather assembly between the dies, centering the spot installation point on the lower die.
6. Pull the handle down to install the spot into the leather.

Please Note: Only the prongs of the spot should bite into the leather. Take care not to tighten the dies down so much that the body of the spot cuts into the leather, as this could lead to the spot punching a hole in the leather and falling out of the project. Always test spot installation depth on a scrap piece of leather before installing spots in your final project.
