The shape and design of this roll-top rucksack offers more storage capacity than a standard zipper-closure backpack. The rolled top allows you to expand or compress the bag depending on how much you need to carry. The unique rolled and buckled closure and waxed canvas material also provide added weatherproofing, keeping your goods dry and secure.

This Waxed Canvas Roll-Top Backpack Kit is an intermediate-level kit and includes all the materials you need to sew your own custom-made, high-quality rucksack. The kit does not include tools; the lists of required and recommended tools to complete the kit can be found below.

The pack is made from DuraWax™ Light Waxed Canvas, a rugged and durable waxed cotton duck fabric. Waxed canvas develops a patina when the fabric is folded, scratched or scuffed. This adds to the beauty and rugged look of this material. Like a full grain leather, waxed canvas looks better with age and wear. The leather accent pieces are gorgeous chrome tanned buffalo hide.

The pattern comes pre-plotted on patterning paper. The pattern pieces are labeled for you, making assembly a breeze. Once the pieces are cut out, we recommend gluing the paper pattern to a backing Material like poster board or cardboard to make a reusable template.
